WWII Bomber to leave its home
Visitors to the Historical Aircraft Squadron Museum at the Fairfield County Airport will have the opportunity to see a World War II bomber that has been stationed at the museum one last time.
On May 14, the Fairfield County Airport will hold its annual open house from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. During this event, the 1944 A/B-26 medium bomber will be on display.
During the past 12 years, squadron members have worked to restore the bomber, which will leave the airport during the open house to be permanently stationed in upstate New York.
Breakfast and lunch are available at the open house. The event is presented by the Historical Aircraft Squadron Musem and hosted by Fairfield Air Ventures, EAA 443 and the Fairfield Pilots Association.
Boys and girls between the ages of 8 and 17 may take advantage of Young Eagles Flights, which are free.
The Historical Aircraft Squadron Museum will be open for tours all day and planes from all over Ohio will line the parking ramp.
This will be visitors’ last chance to see the “Hot Rod” of WWII. For more information, call (740) 653-4778. Rain date is May 15.
