Bicentennial Pageant celebrates county's 200th year

In honor of Madison County’s bicentennial this year, the Canaan Pathfinders 4-H and Cloverbud Club will host a Bicentennial queens pageant on April 10 in the Floral Building at the Madison County Fairgrounds in London.
The deadline to enter is March 21. Age is as of April 10, 2010. All contestants must be Madison County residents and have lived in the county for at least the three months prior to the pageant.
Baby Contest
This contest starts at 3:30 p.m. The entry fee is $5. Entrants must wear a dressy outfit. Winners receive sashes. No travel is required.
The categories are: Tiny Miss Bicentennial, ages 4-6; Toddler Miss, ages 2-3; Baby Miss, 12-23 months; Infant Miss, ages 0-11 months; Tiny Mr. Bicentennial, ages 4-6; Toddler Mister, ages 2-3; Baby Mister, ages 12-23 months; and Infant Mister, ages 0-11 months.
Queens Contests
The entry fee is $15. categories are Little Miss, ages 7-10; Junior Miss, ages 11-14; Teen Miss, ages 15-18; Queen, ages 19-20.
Contestants may never have been married nor had a child. Excessive piercings or tattoos are not permitted. Queen and teen contestants must wear long formal. Little and junior contestants may wear long or short dressy dresses.
Contestants will introduce themselves on stage with a short biography, go through a stage interview and walk the runway. Contestants need to arrive dressed by 5 p.m. for a short practice session and contest instructions.
They must bring identification for age verification (i.e. birth certificate, school ID, driver's license). Court members will be asked to participate in at least five events and parades in the year following the pageant. Winners will receive a crown and sash.
Senior Queen and King Contest
Entrants must be 55 or older and wear a nice outfit. They will introduce themselves with a short biography and share a memory of living in Madison County. The entry fee is $10. Contestants must arrive dressed by 5 p.m. for a short practice session and contest instructions.
