West Jeff girls beat Liberty Union in overtime

West Jefferson’s girls basketball team traveled Jan. 19 to Liberty Union for a Mid-State Cardinal Division game. The Lady Riders defeated the Lions 66-57 in overtime.
The Riders were down 19-26 at halftime and down by as much as 13 points in the third quarter before turning up the defense and getting the offense rolling for a 37-36 lead after three quarters. Liberty Union sank three foul shots with less than a second to go to tie the game at 51. In overtime, West Jefferson Riders scored 15 points and held the Lions to six for the victory.
