Bexley implements new call system
The Bexley City School District is in the process of implementing a new call system for notifying parents/guardians and staff about events, activities and emergencies.
The One Call Now automated notification service will allow Bexley City Schools to update call recipients quickly and efficiently with personalized messages.
According to Operations Director Barry Zwick, One Call Now has the ability to reach thousands of people in moments, send notifications even when school phone lines are down, inform parents the very morning of a student's absence from school and rapidly deliver first-hand information during a crisis situation both by phone and e-mail.
Bexley Schools staffers and students' parents or guardians are being instructed as to informing the school district how they would like to be reached.
They will receive a letter in the mail this month about entering numbers into the system; or they can visit the district home page and follow instructions there (bexleyschools.org; click on "District Notification System" on the left hand side of the page).
Those who would like to receive messages from the school district will be able enter up to three contact phone numbers and three e-mail addresses for each student or staffer.
Call recipients can also elect to receive text messages on cellular phones. The system is secure, officials say.
