Sick at heart
I have read many letters in the past few months and written a few of my own about the SWCS levy. I’m sick at heart at the way the community has responded to levy.
I have read many times over how Grove City should be their own district, how Franklin Heights and Westland should be given to the city schools.
Do people not realize that every other time we have passed it for them and things continued like they should. Do you give away your children when you are frustrated by their actions? I bet not.
Also, I would like to say that every article and letter I have read, everyone mentions the sports being cut. Yes, they were cut but so much more was cut as well. We lost teachers, schools closed, kids got moved to other schools because of the closings, tutors let go.
There will be fewer no dances, no Honor Society, no Key Club, prom, homecoming, WISE, student coucil, marching band.
These opportunities help children achieve their goals in life. Yes, without them they can still be successful, but with them they have a higher chance of scholarship money.
Opportunities like those listed above give the leadership skills needed to be successful in adult life. Colleges put alot of emphasis on those leadership skills.
We shouldn’t be separated as a community because of anger. Anger will lead you wrong everytime. We need to come together for the children’s sake. They need our support in every way possible. They are worth our time, effort and money.
If you do not like who is in charge of your child’s education, then make those changes when the opportunity arises. Change can be a good thing. Please do not vote against the kids on Nov 3. Vote for them, your communities, your home values and for the children’s educations.
