PT program helps residents replace sidewalks
(by Katie Sparks, Staff Writer - August 31, 2009)
Trustees addressed the 2009 Sidewalk Replacement Program at the Aug. 26 Prairie Township meeting.
As with past years, the board presented the option for residents to replace their sidewalks as part of the township’s street resurfacing program. Through the program, residents have the option to pay for the repair over a ten year period interest-free through property tax.
However, residents may choose to repair their own sidewalks independently.
Trustee Steve Kennedy said the county is able to set a cheaper price than what the homeowner would pay by themselves.
The deadline for the program has already passed, but Kennedy said it is a usually a yearly program done on a first come first serve basis.
“In the last few years everybody interested has got in before the deadline,” he said.
Interested residents may call the road superintendent and be placed on a list.
