Bexley treasurer honored

Essman

The Ohio Association of School Business Officials (OASBO) has awarded Chris Essman, Bexley City Schools treasurer, the Central Ohio Regional Distinguished Service Award.

Presented at the organization's annual business lunch April 23 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center, the award includes a scholarship, to be presented to a student in the honoree's school district.

OASBO is the professional association for business managers, transportation managers, treasurers and other school management officials across Ohio.

"We honor service to the profession and to our association and Chris' work fits both," OASBO Executive Director David Varda said. "He helps everybody and is known as a leader in the profession."

RBC Capital Markets sponsors the $500 student scholarship, which will go a Bexley High School senior graduating this spring.

The award qualifies Essman as a nominee for the American School Business Officials' ASBO International Eagle Award, honoring school business officials who have demonstrated excellence and dedication to education.

"I believe that Chris Essman is the most competent treasurer that I have ever had the pleasure of working with in my career," Superintendent Mike Johnson said. "The Bexley City School District and the Bexley community is in very good financial hands and we can sleep well at night."
