Reynoldsburg may extend new high school schedule

(by Anne Holmes, staff writer - January 31, 2009)

Reynoldsburg School Board heard a report and recommendation to extend the design and construction schedules of the new high school building site from 2010 to 2011.

The extension will help keep the project under budget but destroys the anticipated time-line.

By taking longer it will not be necessary to work as much overtime as was being considered, thus creating substantial savings to the budget.

Complex design, size of overall project, and new authorization procedures that require budget reconciliation at each phase of progress are all factors that contribute to the additional challenges not experienced with previous building projects.

Plans had called for the new high school to open for the 2010 academic year.
