| This photo shows some of the Connell Family with their delivery wagon. Growing flowers began as a side-line to dairying. The family supplied milk to Camp Bushnell located in the Broad Street-Parkview Avenue area during the Spanish-American War. Later, generations founded Connell's Florists, which is now Connell's Maple Lee Flowers and Gifts. Margaret Connel (Mittler) is seen in the picture helping her family deliver milk and produce by hitching a billy goat to her little cart. The Connell farm and dairy was located on the National Road (Main Street) and Schneider's Lane (Remington Road). |
