Sex in the City star coming to Bexley
Evan Handler, star of "Sex in the City," will be at the Jewish Bookfair at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 11 at the JCC, 1125 College Ave.
The event kicks off the second week of activities for the annual Bookfair event.
Handler, a childhood leukemia survivor, will be speaking about his book, "It¹s Only Temporary: The Good News and the Bad News of Being Alive." The book zeroes in on the most profound question facing every human being - how can a person live well with the knowledge that time is limited?
For fans of the "Fancy Nancy" children¹s books Fancy Nancy illustrator Robin Preiss Glasser will be at the JCC on Wednesday, Nov. 12 at 4 p.m. to talk about her work on the series, as well as her collaboration with Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, on "Tea for Ruby."
Those planning on attending the event are asked to dress their fanciest for "tea" and stories. Tickets are $10 for a parent and child, and $2 for each additional child.
Rounding out the week are appearances, lectures and book signings by:
o Henryk Grynberg, author of "Drohobycz, Drohobycz and Other Stories: True Tales from the Holocaust and Life After," on Nov. 12, at 6:30 p.m.
o Evan Fallenberg, author of "Light Fell" on Nov. 12, at 7 p.m. (Fallenberg will be appearing at OSU Hillel, 46 E. 16th Ave., on the OSU campus.)
o Dr. Matt Goldish, author of "Jewish Questions: Response on Sephardic Life" in the Early Modern Period, on Nov. 13, at 7:30 p.m.
o Jerry White, author of "I Will Not Be Broken: Five Steps to Overcoming a Life Crisis," on Nov. 17, at 7:30 p.m.
o Avi Beker, author of "The Chosen: The History of an Idea," and the "Anatomy of an Obsession," on Nov. 18, at 7:30 p.m.
The Jewish Bookfair at the JCC began on Nov. 3, and is highlighted by a book sale in the JCC lobby. Tickets to author events are $6 each (with the exception of the Glasser event). Bookfair Fast Passes, which include admission to all bookfair events, are $50 and are available at the JCC¹s front desk.
