Members from Whitehall Yearling High School cast of the musical "Footloose" are, in front left to right Deja Franklin and Kimberly Murry; back, David Coy, Carey Adkins, Russell McPherson, and director Dan Nash. They performed a preview of the show, scheduled for April, for the Whitehall Historical Society.
After taking his position as director last year, Dan Nash wanted to share theatre with the community, while giving his students the opportunity to perform in other venues, as well as giving back to their hometown.
His students enjoy getting out there in a more intimate environment entertaining members of different service organizations, nursing homes, or special events.
It is also a way of sparking more interest for the school's theatre program to people who maybe have not attended any school productions in several years.
Historical Society President Lenora Miller and attendees said they enjoyed seeing the students at the meeting, noting that most everyone is planning to see "Footloose."
In other business, the historic Lustron home's outer walls and windows are almost complete. Ward Sager will begin scheduling work days for volunteers to finish the re-assembling of the house and garage.
The Whitehall Historical Society will be hosting the 2009 Ohio Historical Society meeting, and are hoping that the museum will be completed and furnished by then so that members from all around Ohio will be able to tour the facility.
The next meeting will be April 9 at 6:30 p.m. in the Buckeye Building at Whitehall Community Park. The annual meeting will be May 14 at 6:30 p.m. at MCL Cafeteria on Main Street.
