Various repair projects around Prairie Township
(by Andrew King, staff writer - September 20, 2012)
Nineteen residents in Prairie Township participated in this year’s sidewalk improvement program.
Tracy Hatmaker, Prairie Township administrator, said the sidewalk repairs cost $22,634, which the residents will repay over 10 years, interest free.
Trustees selected Hatmaker to handle interactions with FEMA, which is giving unspecified funds toward the repairing damages caused by June’s storms.
The township is also planning improvements to Carl Frye Park, including the addition of picnic tables, benches, grills and eventually adding a walking path and volleyball court.
Some residents in attendance were concerned the moveable amenities could be stolen. Residents gave examples like the theft of trash cans and said the park cannot support new items.
One resident said they did not want the volleyball court, either.
Trick-or-treat date and time
Trustees said this year’s trick-or-treat would be 6-8 p.m. on Oct. 31.
