Another strong summer storm punched through the area on Aug. 8 knocking down trees and causing other damage. Pictured here are Groveport police officers looking over a tree that fell across eastbound U.S. 33 just east of State Route 317. According to Groveport Police Sgt. Josh Short, the tree originally blocked both lanes but a semi-truck driver used some chains to pull it to the right lane just before police arrived. "We blocked off right lane until public works guys arrived to cut it up and get it off to the shoulder," said Short. "After that one we had another tree down and blocking the road on Briar Grove, but other than that we really had no problems. Our public works guys have had a lot of practice lately with all these storms and they do a swell job."
