HBA does not endorse candidates

Dear Editor,

This letter is in response to a letter written by Lois Neff in the Oct. 15 edition of the Westside Messenger regarding the Hilltop Business Association.

In its 81 years of existence, the Hilltop Business Association still has never publicly endorsed a candidate for public office.

The full page that the HBA has every month is provided by the Hilltop businesses that buy the ads you see on that page. The HBA does not pay for it!

As Executive Secretary of the HBA, it is my job to select and write all “Spotlights.” Mr. Baker is the only candidate that is running for the Columbus School Board that is a member of the HBA.

As always, the HBA had a great candidates’ Night on Oct.10. We had 14 candidates come out and speak and take questions.

This also was publicized on the HBA page. The public was invited as always. The HBA is a non-political organization that constantly strives to better serve the community!

I hope this helps everyone understand that this is “our” page. This is a way to let you know what is going on with the HBA and in the community.

Karen Whitman
HBA Executive Secretary
