Kids Expo is about community
(by Kim Lunsford, staff writer - August 31, 2011)
Are the walls starting to close around you? Are the closets full of clothing your children can no longer wear? Are you unable to park your car in your garage for all the sporting equipment? Are the toys starting their own little army in the corner?
The Reynoldsburg Parks and Recreation Department has a solution.
The second annual Kids Expo will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sept. 17 at Huber Park, 1520 Davidson Drive. Reynoldsburg residents may rent a 10’ x 10’ area for $15 to sell those gently used baby items, children’s clothing, sporting equipment, school uniforms, toys and more. One table is provided, but sellers should provide their own tent.
“We try to avoid commercial type items,” Parks and Recreation Secretary Mary Beth Sills said.
The event aids the community in selling their items without having to host their own garage sale and others who wish to purchase gently used items all in one place.
There will also be events for children including hands on activities, a naturalist program and others. Sills said the city is planning to bring out large equipment such as bulldozers for the children to climb on.
“This is a community activity,” Sills said. “Folks can get together where neighbors help neighbors.”
Registration is open up to the week of the event. Those interested in more information should contact the Reynoldsburg Parks and Recreation Department at (614) 322-6086.
