New red light camera to be activated on Hilltop
Beginning on Aug. 31 the Columbus Division of Police will issue warning letters to motorists caught running the red light at Binns Boulevard and Sullivant Avenue.
This is the latest intersection to have photo red light technology installed.
Motorists committing an infraction at this intersection will receive a warning letter for a period of 30 days, after which, a notice of liability with a fine of $95 will be issued.
The notice of liability will begin at 12:01 a.m. on Sept. 30.
The message is “focus on safety.” Motorists are encouraged to slow down for the yellow light so they can safely stop for the red light. Most importantly, stopping for the red light is the law, prevents crashes and can save lives.
